Boys Hoops:
For the first time since opening night, the La Salle boys’ basketball program is over the .500 mark.
Moreover, the Lancers improved to 2-1 in Santa Fe League play with a convincing 63-38 victory at Mary Star of the Sea.
The boys from Pasadena took a 32-13 lead into the half, and the outcome was never in doubt.
Cane Ortiz scored a game-high 14 points, including 10 in the first quarter.
Ortiz hit a pair of 3’s, grabbed three rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.
Miles Reid provided nine points and two rebounds.
Cody Divens chipped in with eight points and three boards.
Alex Darlas finished with seven points, four rebounds and two assists.
Zach Kuo, Kris Miselis and Diego Bernal added six points apiece for the Lancers.
Ben Coughlin hit two 3-pointers, and he led Mary Star with 12 points.
Ayden Fronda and Riley Kaercher scored five points apiece in the loss.
Up next: The Lancers will host Cathedral on Wednesday evening at 7.
