Two days after dropping their first game of the season, Etiwanda got back to their winning ways.
For the second consecutive game in the Damien Classic’s Gold Division, the Eagles forced overtime.
Trailing by six points as they headed into the fourth quarter, EHS went on a 20-14 run.
Etiwanda outlasted Loyola, 67-64, to improve to 16-1.
And they did so in spite of the Cubs’ 24-3 (point) advantage from beyond the 3-point line.
Devin Mitchell had a big night.
Mitchell totaled 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Jacob Coleman went 8-of-10 from the free-throw line and finished with 14 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Isaiah Been added 13 points three rebounds and a pair of assists.
Achilles Orji provided 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Deuce Newt had a game-high 29 points for Loyola.
Newt was 8-of-19 from the field, including 6-of-12 from 3-point land.
Newt converted on seven of his 10 free-throw attempts.
Mattai Carter chipped in with 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Up next: The Eagles will close out the tournament on Tuesday night against San Gabriel Academy (7-5) at Ramona Middle School.
The tip is set for 8.
