Xavier Buckles Accounts for 3 TDs in Pasadena City College’s 35-30 Victory at Citrus in Golden State Bowl

Football:

After an 0-3 mark in October, the Pasadena City College football program finished the 2025 season with three November wins.

And that includes a 35-30 victory at Citrus in the Golden State Bowl.

PCC took a 14-0 lead just seven minutes into the contest, and they only trailed once.

Down 17-14 at the break, Noah Triplett’s 74-yard return on the opening kickoff of the second half gave the Lancers a 21-17 lead.

PCC had advantages in first downs (24-17), third-down efficiency (8-of-15 to 5-of-14), rushing (134-39) and time of possession (32-28).

Xavier Buckles accounted for three of PCC’s five TDs.

Buckles scored on TD runs of 1 and 9 yards.

He also completed 23-of-29 for 296 yards.

Buckles hit Ethan Hubbell on a 40-yard TD pass at the 9:44 mark of the fourth quarter.

Buckles was intercepted twice (Durand Johnson & Jacob Cox).

Dom Ezeonye had game highs in carries (17) and rushing yards (71).

Ezeonye scored on a 3-yard TD run in the third quarter.

Triplett finished with 50 yards on 17 carries.

He also caught four passes for 42 yards.

Cam Mitchell led the PCC receiving corps with six catches for 79 yards.

Aiden Wood totaled 52 receiving yards on two catches.

Brian Salazar finished out his successful freshman campaign in style.

Salazar completed 22-of-37 for 377 yards.

That includes four touchdown passes and no picks.

Salazar hooked up with Cameron Bateman (44 yards), Jalen Thompson (48), Lorenza Simmons (22) and Jojo Enriquez (26) on scoring strikes.

Keyonn Chatman gained 22 of Citrus’ 39 rushing yards on 12 carries.

Bateman also had a remarkable freshman season.

The Chino Hills product had a game-high eight receptions for 129 yards and the one score.

Enriquez finished with 84 receiving yards on fve catches and one TD.

Thompson had a pair of receptions for 61 yards.

Simmons totaled 40 yards on three catches.

Alex Hernandez got Citrus on the board with a 41-yard field goal at the 14:50 mark of the third quarter.

Gabriel Sulaiman (6), Coleman Morning (5), Devon Jones (5) and Greg Hidalgo (4) combined for 20 tackles in the win.

Jones had a seven-yard sack.

Maddox Barrios finished with a game-high 11 tackles for the Owls.

Jacob Cox and Jacoah Chennault had seven tackles apiece.

Tyson Toscano and Durand Johnson each had six tackles.
