Water Polo:
The Palomares League was guaranteed one team in Saturday’s CIF-SS Division 3 title game at Mt. SAC.
Glendora and Bonita met up in Tuesday’s D-3 semifinal showdown at Las Flores Park in La Verne.
In the regular season, GHS and BHS went 1-1 against one another
The Tartans secured an 8-6 victory on October 8th.
And one week later, the Bearcats claimed a 15-7 victory in the semifinal round of the Palomares League Tournament.
That gets us to Tuesday.
Bonita outscored Glendora, 9-4 in the first half, and they would hold on for a 15-11 victory.
The Tartans got as close as 13-10 in the fourth period, but a pair of Jeffrey Heaton goals sealed the win for the Bearcats.
Antonio Finianos and Gary Watson scored four goals apiece.
Heaton finished with three goals and Ethan Beltran chipped in with a pair of goals.
Julian Falk had nine saves in goal for the Bearcats.
Logan Gibson led the GHS offense with four goals.
Zach Newkirk added three goals, while Collin Harper and Ricky Busse provided two goals apiece.
Giancarlo Figueroa had three saves in goal for the Tartans and Peter Collins had two.
Up next: The Bearcats will face the No. 2 seed from Temecula Valley on Saturday night at Mt. SAC.
The title match is set for 5.
The Golden Bears (18-10) edged their visitors from Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks, 9-8, on Tuesday.
