Water Polo:
Troy scored five goals in the first quarter of their CIF-SS Division 3 first-round playoff game at Glendora.
However, the Tartans defense allowed just five more goals the rest of the way in a 15-10 postseason victory.
GHS went on a 6-2 run in the second half to pull away.
Reed Thompson had a huge night.
Thompson scored six times, including five in a row between the second and third quarters.
Logan Gibson contributed three goals.
And Collin Harper made his presence felt with a pair of goals in the win.
Harper scored once in the second and another in the fourth period.
Giancarlo Figueroa totaled 11 saves and two assists.
Harrison Peckham, Drew Garrison, Ricky Busse and Zach Newkirk all scored a goal in Thursday’s win.
Up next: The Tartans battle Malibu on Tuesday at 5.
The Sharks (20-8) secured a 14-8 victory over their visitors from Long Beach Millikan.
