Football:
Rancho Cucamonga cemented their spot as the Baseline League’s premier program in 2025.
The Cougars got out to an early lead, and they marched on to a 31-24 victory over visiting Chino Hills to secure an outright Baseline League championship.
RCHS’ biggest leads were 24-7 and 31-14.
The Cougars did all their scoring in the first half.
Rancho Cucamonga defeated Damien, Upland, Ayala, Etiwanda and Chino Hills by a combined margin of 179-60.
Jacob Chambers completed 16-of-23 for 230 yards.
That included three TDs and two picks.
Chambers hooked up with James Strong on a 12-yard TD pass just 1:52 into the game.
The Cougars senior also found Tyree Wilson on a 34-yard score.
Dillon Sykes had a 15-yard TD reception.
Wilson caught five passes for 60 yards.
Sykes led the RCHS receiving corps with 102 receiving yards on six receptions.
Semaj Stewart caught four passes for 56 yards.
Wilson led the Rancho Cucamonga ground game with 107 yards on six carries, including an 80-yard TD run.
Romano Annecchini booted a 21-yard field goal, and he went 4-for-4 on extra-point attempts.
Alex Medyn completed 16-of-26 for 224 yards.
Medyn didn’t toss a TD and was picked twice.
Medyn scored on a 1-yard TD run in the first quarter to pull CHHS to within 10-7 of RCHS.
Dawaun Nettingham picked a Chambers pass and brought it back for a 60-yard pick-six.
Jacob Jimenez scored on a 1-yard TD run in the fourth to close out the scoring for Chino Hills.
Jimenez finished with 80 rushing yards on 15 carries.
Ferrell led the CHHS receiving corps with seven receptions for 115 yards.
Up next: The Huskies and Cougars will get their playoff opponent on Sunday morning at 10.
