Football:
Alta Loma secured its signature victory of the 2025 season on Friday night.
The Lions left Covina District Field with a 21-20 Valle Vista League victory over their hosts from Northview.
ALHS entered the contest one-game back of the Vikings and West Covina in the VVL standings.
And the Braves stood 131 spots after NHS in the MaxPreps state rankings.
ALHS was able to overcome multiple turnovers from its freshman quarterback to shock most of the SGV football world.
While Maximus Fierro did get picked a number of times, he did have TD runs of 2 and 1 yards.
In the third quarter, Alta Loma went to their bag of tricks.
With the score tied at 14-14, receiver Bryant Avila got the ball on an end around, and the Alta Loma sophomore found Owen Fiorenza wide open for a 74-yard TD pass, which turned out to be the game-winning points.
The Lions’ defense was stellar.
ALHS held NHS to 100 yards under their weekly offensive output (318).
Jaishon Bledsoe and Dominic Munoz had 51-and-33-yard TD runs, respectively for the Vikings.
Isaiah Lucero hauled in a 66-yard TD pass from his brother Robert Lucero.
Unfortunately for Northview, the point after attempt failed for the second time on Friday, and it cost the Vikings dearly.
Along with his long TD reception, Lucero picked two passes before leaving the game to injury.
Bledsoe also picked a pass for the Northview defense.
Assuming West Covina beats Diamond Ranch on Saturday at Sofi Stadium, NHS and ALHS would enter the final week of the regular season one-game back of the Bulldogs.
Alta Loma travels to San Dimas, while Northview visits West Covina.
