Water Polo:
Glendora’s first lead in Wednesday’s second-place showdown didn’t occur until the fourth period.
The Tartans trailed their visitors from Bonita 2-0 after the first quarter, and the Bearcats took a 5-2 advantage into the break.
The GHS offense and defense flipped the script in the second half, however, to claim an 8-6 victory.
Glendora outscored Bonita 3-1 in both the third and fourth periods.
Trailing 6-5, Reed Thompson scored all three of his goals in the fourth quarter.
Zach Newkirk and Logan Gibson scored two goals apiece.
Ricky Busse, Gibson and Newkirk scored one goal in the third period to pull to within 6-5 of the Bearcats.
Giancarlo Figueroa totaled six saves, while Peter Collins had three saves and a pair of steals.
Up next: The Tartans will battle Monday’s Bonita-Diamond Bar winner on Wednesday at GHS.
