San Dimas is off to a great start to Hacienda League play.
After victories over Alta Loma and Colony, the Saints are 3-0 and in sole possession of first place.
On Tuesday, SDHS swept ALHS to hand their visitors a first league loss.
San Dimas won by scores of 25-16, 25-22 and 25-19.
In the win, Savannah Clelland had a match-high 13 kills and three blocks.
Jayden Hanson provided 12 kills, 15 assists and three blocks of her own.
Fast forward two nights, and San Dimas would drop the first set to last-place Colony.
But SDHS regrouped and won in four by scores of 23-25, 25-10, 25-7 and 25-18.
For the second time last week, Clelland had double digit kills (10) and a pair of digs.
Hanson led the way with 11 kills, three blocks, 17 assists and five aces.
For the season, Hanson’s 110 kills is almost double her next teammates.
Taylor Smith is second with 65 and Clelland has 61 kills.
Up next: The Saints have a pair of Hacienda League road matches this week.
SDHS travels to Los Altos on Tuesday and South Hills on Thursday.
Quotable:
San Dimas coach, Joe Hanson: “Savannah and Jayden are both seniors and good friends on and off the court. They have been anticipating this year, as Savy moved into the starting spot and Jayden is returning from season-ending injuries in both her sophomore and junior years after starting as a freshman. Both are extremely competitive and they’re just beginning to find their rhythm together on the offensive end, as well as committing to improving our team defense. It has been a joy to watch them grow this season as athletes and as people.”
