Football:
Northview jumped on Covina early, and they cruised to a 56-21 victory at Covina District Field.
The Vikings had a 177-68 advantage on the ground, and the Colts passed for 182 yards as compared to 139 for NHS.
Robert Lucero accounted for five total TDs, including three passing.
Lucero completed 7-of-15 for 139 yards.
He hooked up on scoring strikes of 49-and-18-yards to Jaishon Bledsoe, and an 18-yard score to Manny Garcia.
Lucero also had a game-high 74 yards rushing on seven carries, including TD runs of 10 and 12 yards.
Dominic Munoz gained 59 yards on three carries.
Isaiah Lucero caught two passes for 27 yards, and he scored on a 14-yard TD run.
Bledsoe caught two passes (both TDs) for 67 yards.
Garcia had two receptions for 27 yards.
Roy Vazquez completed 13-of-26 for 182 yards.
Vazquez tossed 12-and-26-yard TD passes to Kevin Perez.
He also had a 1-yard TD run.
Gatsbee Gumban led the CHS ground game with 52 yards on 15 carries.
Perez had game highs in receptions (5) and receiving yards (78) to go with his two TDs.
Gumban reeled in a pair of passes for 35 yards.
Aaron Hernandez caught three passes for 40 yards.
Adrian Mendoza had a 20-yard reception.
Up next: The Vikings will have the week off, and they’ll host Baldwin Park on 10/2 in the Valle Vista League opener.
The Colts will host Santa Fe on Friday evening.
