Football:
Claremont is off to quite the start to the 2025 season.
The Wolfpack cruised to a 56-7 victory over their visitors from La Salle after spotting the Lancers a 7-0 lead that ate up nearly the first eight minutes of the game.
CHS is 5-0, which matches the program’s win total for 2023 and 2024 combined.
And it’s their first 5-0 start since 2015.
La Salle marched down the field, and with the aid of several penalties against the Wolfpack defense, grabbed a 7-0 lead.
Alexandros Darlas rumbled in from eight yards out.
Unfortunately for the Lancers, Claremont scored the next 56 points.
The second half took about 30 minutes to complete after the running clock was enacted.
Brandon Coronado had another big night behind center.
Coronado completed 12-of-13 for 363 yards.
He had a 1-yard TD run and four passing TDs.
Coronado’s TD hook ups included Max Leeper (10 yards), Kingston Fajardo (17), Luke Labbe (2) and Tai Thompson (30).
He would have had five throwing TDs, but the refs called Leeper out at the 3-yard line in the video below.
Leeper had five catches for 97 yards and the one official score.
Thompson had a big game with rushing TDs of 3, 3 and 48 yards, and he finished with 107 yards on the ground and the one receiving TD.
Doug Yegge had four catches for 73 yards.
Fajardo caught a pair of passes for 20 yards.
Labbe led CHS with six tackles.
Bix Lazar had three tackles and an interception.
Fajardo picked one pass to go with a pair of tackles.
Landon Davis chipped in with five tackles.
Gavin Marine had one interception for the Wolfpack defense.
Up next: The Lancers and Wolfpack will both take their bye week.
And then on 10/3, the Wolfpack open Sierra League play at Los Osos, and the Lancers will host Harvard Westlake.
