Football:
Alta Loma improved to 3-1 on Friday night.
The Lions got out to a 31-7 lead over their visitors from Glendora.
And ALHS would hold on for the 31-24 victory.
Alta Loma scored the game’s first 14 points.
Maximus Fierro connected with Bryant Avila and Josiah Smith-Hart on first quarter TD passes of 26 and 7 yards, respectively.
Glendora got on the board when Sebastian Lawrence found Nazir McGlothen on a 15-yard scoring strike just 59 seconds into the second quarter.
Alta Loma would score the next 17 points to take a 31-10 lead into the break.
After a Lucas Holguin 30-yard field goal, Santiago Vasquez caught a 79-yard TD pass from Fierro.
With 4:45 to go in the second quarter, Semaj Stewart intercepted Lawrence and brought it back 25 yards for the pick-six.
Just before the half, Nick Norell booted a 41-yard field goal to pull GHS to within 31-10.
The Glendora defense would hold Alta Loma scoreless in the second half, but the damage had already been done.
The Tartans scored twice in the third period.

Aidan Yamazaki took a Lawrence pass 56 yards for a TD.
Yamazaki also had a fumble recovery.
And sophomore Carson Kassotis reeled in a 23-yard scoring strike from Lawrence.
Alta Loma’s Fierro completed 16-of-26 for 259 yards.
And that included three TDs and one pick.
Izaih Brown carried the ball 21 times for 101 yards and one score.
Vasquez caught five passes for 130 yards and one TD.
Avila totaled 80 receiving yards on seven catches and the one score.
For Glendora, Lawrence was 17-of-37 for 211 yards.
He had the three TDs and two interceptions.
The Tartans could muster just 22 rushing yards, and Johnny Jabour accounted for 19 of the 22 on six carries.
Jarod Ceniceros led GHS in receptions (4) and receiving yards (53).
McGlothen returned to the lineup and caught three passes for 26 yards and one TD.
Jabbour totaled 21 receiving yards on four catches.
Yamazaki had a game-high 10 tackles, while Owen Fiorenza led ALHS with seven tackles.
Tyson Rush picked Fierro, and Devon White and Semaj Stewart intercepted passes from Lawrence.
Up next: GHS welcomes Ayala next Friday, and ALHS will take the week off before traveling to Silverado on 9/26.
