Football:
Alta Loma improved to 2-0 on Thursday evening.
However, Los Osos certainly had their chances.
Trailing by seven points with just over two minutes to play, ALHS punted the ball to LOHS.
A Grizzlies’ player accidentally touched the ball, and the Lions took over at the LOHS 11.
Instead of going in for the kill, Alta Loma bled the clock from 2:20 to 0:12 before turning the ball over on downs.
It also set up a near impossible scenario for the Grizzlies.
They had to drive 85 yards in 12 seconds and do so without the luxury of a timeout.
After a pair of incomplete passes, the scoreboard read triple zeroes.
Stat leaders for ALHS include:
Maximus Fierro completed 12-of-16 for 163 yards.
He tossed three TD passes.
Izaih Brown had game highs in carries (17) and rushing yards (66).
Santiago Vasquez reeled in six receptions for 112 yards.
That included a pair of TDs.
Stat leaders for LOHS include:
Isaiah Guerrero completed 16-of-33 for 120 yards and no scores.
Jacob Castro led the Los Osos receiving corps with five receptions for 48 yards and one TD.
Up next: LOHS and ALHS will both be in action next Friday.
The Braves travel to Claremont and the Grizzlies host Orange.
