Ayala extended its current win streak to 16 games on Saturday.
And they had to work overtime to accomplish that feat.
AHS edged Murrieta Mesa, 3-2, in eight innings in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs.
The Bulldogs trailed 1-0 into the bottom of the sixth before scoring a pair of runs.
To their credit, the Rams scored once in the seventh to tie the game at 2-2.
McKenzie Becerra’s RBI double in the eighth was the difference.
Tatum Wolff went five innings for MMHS, and she was charged with two runs (one earned) on four hits.
Wolff walked one and fanned four Bulldogs.
Lilly Hauser got the loss after allowing one run on five hits over 2 1/3 innings.
Hauser issued one walk and registered two strikeouts.
Jayden Tamura got Ayala even at 1-1 with an RBI single in the sixth.
Jasmine Peralez singled in the sixth, and she scored on a passed ball.
Marisa Dominguez singled and scored.
Taelor Walker drew a pair of walks and singled.
Viviana Jilek had a pair of singles and scored.
Jordyn Balingit went 2-for-3.
Allie Lukaszewicz went four innings and she allowed one run on one hit.
Lukaszewicz walked four and fanned three MMHS batters.
Lilanna Acosta also provided four innings in the circle, and she was responsible for one run on two hits and a walk.
Taelyn Holley drew a pair of walks, scored and her RBI ground out in the top of the seventh tied the game at 2-2.
Camryn Gordon had a sac fly in the top of the first to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.
Macy Clark doubled.
Maddie Beohm walked and scored.
Gracy Zamora had a pair of singles in the loss.
Up next: The Bulldogs will travel to La Mirada on Wednesday at 3:15.
The Matadores (25-4) dominated their hosts from Roosevelt, 12-4, on Saturday.
