La Canada enjoyed a 6-1 lead as Downey picked up their bats in the bottom of the fifth inning on Friday.
The Vikings scored twice in the fifth and seventh innings, but LCHS would hold on for a 6-5 victory in the first round of the CIF-SS D-4 playoffs.
Cash Carroll went 4 2/3 innings, and he allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits.
Carroll walked three and fanned three to earn the win.
Ross Piken got the save after a scoreless and hitless seventh inning.
Fabian Lopez doubled twice, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Eddie Causley singled and scored.
Samuel Mojica walked, doubled and drove in a run on a sac fly.
