Quotable:
Chaffey coach, Andy Smith: “I couldn’t be prouder to be the coach of this group. They have exemplified resilience and toughness all year, stared adversity in the eye and punched back. We’ve talked about those defining features all year-how important they are for a ball club, but even more so how important they are in life. Life throws punches. We get knocked down. Successful people keep getting back up. By that measurable, this team was an incredible success.”
Mt. SAC coach, John Knott: “This was a very competitive series. We were going back and forth all day. Chaffey was well coached and gave us everything we could handle. We were fortunate to get the last ups and score the winning run. The heat and two games made it brutal for all players today. I was proud our guys stayed with it and found a way to be triumphant.”
Mt. SAC freshman, Landon White: “We earned a spot in the next round by getting on teams early. We put up eight runs in the first against Cuesta, three runs by the third inning in game two with Chaffey, and four runs by the third inning of the last game. In the last game we were able to play small ball well and get every run possible.”
