College Baseball:
For the second time on Thursday, Cuesta College gave up eight runs before it got anything going offensively.

And in game two at the Mt. SAC Super Regional, the Cougars surrendered eight runs in the bottom of the first inning, and the Mounties cruised to a 14-6 victory.
Cuesta scored four of their six runs in the top of the ninth inning.
Brenden Menchaca got the win after going 6 1/3 innings, and he allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits.

Jaden Mackowiak, Ethan Corral and Jeremiah Sibrian combined to provide 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
All four of Cuesta’s ninth inning runs came on a Tristan Usher grand slam.

Justin Cortez went seven innings, allowing eight runs (four earned) on 10 hits and one hit batter.
Cortez walked a pair of fanned three Mounties.

The winner of Friday’s game needs just one of two on Saturday.
