Softball:
St. Genevieve was five outs away from kicking La Salle out of the Santa Fe League penthouse they share with Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The third-place Valiants led 3-1, but the Lancers scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure a 5-3 victory in the season finale.
Havana Pagan went the distance, and after surrendering three runs in the top of the first inning, she shut St. Genevieve out the rest of the way.
Pagan was charged with three runs on six hits.
She walked four and struck out five SG batters.
Skyla Gutierrez hit a two-run HR.
Kalesita Tuifua went 2-for-4 with a double, run and one RBI.
Natalia Aranda got the loss after going six innings and allowing five runs (one earned) on nine hits.
Aranda walked two and fanned a pair of Lancers.
Aria Davis went 2-for-4 with a double, run and one RBI.
Pagan helped her own cause with two singles, a double, two runs and an RBI.
Layla Loya went 2-for-3 with a walk, and an RBI double in the four-run sixth inning.
Jadyn Shaver singled and scored.
Jessica Young had an RBI single.
Up next: The Lancers will get their playoff opponent on Monday at noon.
