Baseball:

Although Upland defeated the reigning CIF-SS champs from Chino Hills to earn Baseline League victory No. 1 in the season finale, the Highlanders have been close a number of times in 2025.

Before Wednesday’s 9-3 victory over the Huskies, the Highlanders had lost five league games by two runs or less.

CHHS took a 3-0 lead after the first inning and a half at Memorial Park in Upland.

However, the Highlanders got three in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at 3-3, and then they scored six times in the sixth to pull away.

Quotable:

Upland sophomore, Carson Kinnick: “It was special to get a win tonight, especially for our seniors. We’ve been in games and battled, but we came up short each time. I’m proud of the effort we’ve given all season and we’re looking forward to the future of Upland baseball. To hit a three-run home run and tie it up felt great, because I had struck out three times on Tuesday, and I did it again in my first at-bat today. I was looking for a change up and I got it. Our seniors were very uplifting all season, and they did a good job of raising the spirits of the younger players, including myself. Max Biddle has also battled all season and he’s been dominant, and we haven’t always given him the run support or the defense that he deserved. We’re going to be junior and senior heavy next year, and we’ll be a team with a lot more power. I think we’ll win the close games that we didn’t this season. We’re also excited to get to play a full season on our new turf field moving forward on campus.”
