Damien entered the final week of the regular season having lost five consecutive games.
Worse yet, they were all Baseline League games.
The Spartans took out their frustrations on their hosts from Rancho Cucamonga.
DHS cruised to an 8-0 victory.
The Spartans out-hit the Cougars 11-2, including a 4-0 edge in extra-base hits.
Rudy O’Dell tossed a two-hit shutout.
It took O’Dell needed 91 pitches to finish what he started.
O’Dell issued three walks and registered eight strikeouts.
Rowan Suchanek and Ethan Diaz had one single apiece to account for the Rancho Cucamonga offense.
Damien got to Nathaniel Pilawski for two runs on four hits over 2 2/3 innings.
Pilawski walked two and fanned one DHS batter.
Joey Lopez and Owen Gilbert surrendered three runs apiece on a combined seven hits over the final 4 1/3 innings.
Bobby Logue went 3-for-3 and scored three times.
Logue hit a solo shot in the top of the second inning, and a two-run HR in the fifth.
Michael Mansour had a pair of doubles, two runs and he drew a walk with the bases loaded.
Jackson Annigan went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a pair of stolen bases.
Elius Kelly singled and scored.
Grant Corder walked and scored.
Brady Bickham walked, singled and scored.
Russell Del Castillo singled once in Monday’s win.
