Mt. SAC Secures 2-Game Sweep Over Desert After Saturday’s 8-2 Victory; Mounties Host Chaffey & Cuesta in Next Week’s Super Regional

College Baseball:

Mt. SAC has earned a spot in next week’s Super Regionals after a two-game sweep over Desert.

On Friday, the Mounties claimed a 5-0 victory, and on Saturday, they secured an 8-2 win over the Roadrunners.

They had an 11-6 advantage in base hits, including a 5-1 edge in extra-base hits.

Although the game was played at Mt. SAC, the Mounties were the designated visitors for game two.

Hudson Castillo got the win after six innings of work, and allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits.

Castillo (10-1) issued one walk and registered seven strikeouts.

Brenden Menchaca provided two scoreless innings in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out a pair of Roadrunners.

Sam Silversmith got the final three outs, including one via strikeout.

Evan Deringer walked, singled, doubled and scored.

Michael Gonsalez had an RBI single in the third.

Juan Alvarez singled and scored.

Jayvin Baxa had an RBI fielder’s choice.

Jacob Glazener got the loss after being roughed up for seven runs on eight hits and a pair of walks over three innings.

Glazener struck out a pair of Mounties.

Bryan Bradshaw walked, tripled in a run and scored twice from the leadoff spot.

Landon White went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a walk, run, and one RBI.

Ty Thomas doubled in a run and scored.

Tyler Stull went 1-for-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI ground out.

Miguel Perez drew a pair of walks, singled twice and drove in one.

Cole Nachreiner had an RBI fielder’s choice, and an RBI ground out.

Terrell Jackson singled, doubled and scored.

Noah Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a walk, run, and an RBI single in the second to give the Mounties a 3-0 lead.

Up next: The Mounties, Chaffey and Cuesta meet up this coming week in a Super Regional that begins on Thursday and it’s a double elimination format.
