Baseball:
Glendora only needs one win in their final two nonleague games next week to literally double their win total from a year ago.
After Saturday’s 6-3 victory over their visitors from Walnut in the Palomares League finale, the Tartans improved to 17-9 overall.
GHS has won six of their last eight games, and their 9-6 record in league was good enough for third place.
Tanner Grable was credited with the win after going two innings and surrendering a pair of unearned runs on four hits.
Grable didn’t issue a walk and struck out one.
Kevin Mitchell provided a scoreless inning in relief, and Mason Danison earned the save with a scoreless seventh inning.
Jacob Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Jacob Zepeda singled and scored.
Manny Aguilar and JJ Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with one RBI apiece.
Dylan Nunez got the loss after allowing six runs (two earned) on nine hits over five innings.
Nunez didn’t give a free pass and struck out three GHS batters.
Dillan Lobo went a scoreless sixth for the Mustangs, and he got all three outs via strikeout.
Gregory Papik went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
Tyler Olbert singled twice and scored two runs.
Brayden Johnson singled, had an RBI double and scored.
Mason Danison went 1-for-2 with a double, run and one RBI.
Jackson Glaze drove in a run on a sac fly.
Cash Dionne singled and scored.
Nick Gonzalez had an RBI single and scored.
Aaron Jacobsen singled once for the Tartans.
