Baseball:
It would be almost impossible to have a bigger impact on a game quite like Tomas Bilvado did on Thursday afternoon.
First and foremost, his Titans secured at least a share of the Rio Hondo League championship.
That happened thanks to a two-game sweep of Temple City, and it was coupled by La Canada’s sweep of first-place Monrovia.
With two games to play, SMHS can do no worse than sharing the league crown.
However, all they need to do to in order to clinch an outright RHL championship, is to take one of two from last-place South Pasadena (2-8) next week.
On Thursday, San Marino crushed their hosts from Temple City, 12-0.
Bilvado was a beast on the mound and at the plate.
He tossed a two-hit shutout, and needed 84 pitches to finish what he started
Bilvado issued one walk and struck out 13 TCHS batters.
He got eight separate Rams on strikes at least once, and four had the misfortune of striking out twice or more.
Isaac Carillo and Tyler Womack had one hit apiece to account for the Temple City offense.
Jack Scanlan got the loss after surrendering seven runs on six hits and five walks over three innings.
Scanlan struck out a pair of SMHS batters.
Bilvado went 3-for-4 with three runs.
And that included two doubles, a three-run HR, and he finished with four RBIs.
Miles Morning singled twice, doubled and scored a pair of runs.
JJ Wilson went 2-for-4 with a walk, double and three runs.
Parker Wilson walked, singled, scored and had one RBI.
Chase Mena had an RBI single and scored.
Charlie Danenhauer went 1-for-2, was hit by pitch, and he collected a pair of RBIs.
Aldo Cali walked, singled, scored and had one RBI.
Jack Paciorek and Nate Kar had one single apiece in the win.
Evan Bruno walked and had an RBI ground out.
