Baseball:
For the second week in a row, Rancho Cucamonga avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of an opponent.
Last week, Etiwanda took the first two of their Baseline League series with the Cougars and RCHS claimed a 6-0 victory at EHS in game three.
This week, Chino Hills won the first two games before Rancho Cucamonga secured a 6-3 win at CHHS.
The Cougars led 6-0 before the Huskies scored three times in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Jacob Peyton went two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out one before leaving with a tight knee.
Nathaniel Pilawski provided two scoreless innings, and surrendering two hits while striking out one.
CHHS got to Grant Thomas for three runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk over three innings.
Anthony Medyn doubled and scored.
Josh Mendez and Frankie Brazil had two hits apiece.
Gabriel Hernandez had an RBI single in the seventh and scored.
Jacob Jimenez and Matt McCliman had one hit apiece for the Huskies.
Ryan Dabuet walked and scored.
Aydan Maxson got the loss after surrendering six runs on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings.
Maxson walked three and registered five strikeouts.
Brock Foulds drew a pair of walks, singled twice, scored and had one RBI.
Jose Gomez went 1-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
Rowan Suchanek singled twice, scored and had one RBI.
Trevor Newman singled and scored.
Beau Briggs went 1-for-3 with a walk and one RBI.
Aiden Bravo had a pair of singles for RCHS.
Derek Lesiuk had one single in Friday’s win.
