And his Lancers upset 30-win Palomar, 6-4, on Friday, in game one of a best-of-three 3C2A playoff series in San Marcos.
Trailing 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning, PCC struck for five runs and that was enough for Hugo Tafoya and Aiden Nunez.
Tafoya went seven innings, and he surrendered four runs on nine hits.
Tafoya issued four walks and registered five strikeouts.
Nunez provided two scoreless innings in relief and allowing one hit to earn the save.
Nunez didn’t issue a walk, and he fanned two Palomar batters.
Justin Tucker walked, singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Drake Cobb went 2-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Jordan Treadwell singled, scored and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Jacob Loving went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
Joey Navarro was saddled with the loss after allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits over five innings.
Navarro walked a pair and struck out five PCC batters.
Michael Getzinger provided four scoreless innings for the Comets and allowed just one hit.
Getzinger walked one and struck out two.
Joaquin Salcedo drew a pair of walks, scored twice and hit a solo HR in the top of the first inning.
Trailing 2-1, Adrian Roman’s two-run single gave PCC a 3-2 lead.
Evan Nahra went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
Bryan Richman singled and scored.
Tyler Garcia went 2-for-4 with one run and an RBI.
Thomas Villanueva walked and singled.
Omar Cisneros singled and Devon Eskridge scored once for the Lancers.
Up next: PCC goes for the two-game sweep on Saturday morning at 11.
If they lose, a third and final game will take place approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game two.
