Charter Oak secured a split in the two-game Valle Vista League series against Covina.
After Tuesday’s 9-1 loss at CHS, the Chargers claimed a 5-3 home victory on Thursday.
COHS led 5-0 before the Colts scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Marcus Reese went 5 1/3 innings, and he allowed three unearned runs on three hits to earn the win.
Reese issued three walks and registered four strikeouts.
JD Sanchez provided 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.
Sanchez allowed two hits, walked a pair and fanned three Covina batters.
Lucas Thorpe had a two-run single in the sixth.
Ethan Echeverria went 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Ryan Silva and Donovan Johnson singled and scored one run apiece.
Matt Arriaga had one hit for the Colts.
Declan Bowers was saddled with the loss after surrendering five runs (three earned) on seven hits over 3 1/3 innings.
Bowers issued a pair of walks and registered three strikeouts.
Diego Lopez provided 2 2/3 scoreless and hitless innings in relief.
Lopez walked one and fanned three Chargers.
Vincent Carrillo walked, doubled and scored.
