Baseball:

Glendora coach Jerry Lewallen, his staff and their players deserve a lot of credit for the program making a massive turn for the better in 2025.

Just last year, the Tartans went 9-18 overall and 2-13 in Palomares League games.

They finished last for the first time since Ronald Reagan served as President of the United States.

And to their credit, Lewallen’s boys responded very well to a disappointing start to Palomares League play.

Back on March 18th, 20th and 22nd, the eventual 2025 Palomares League champions from Ayala dropped a three-game 29-4 ass kicking on GHS.

The Tartans were 6-6 at that point, and they obviously sat in the Palomares League cellar (with Diamond Bar).

Since then, GHS has gone 8-3, and that includes a sweep of DBHS, a two-game-to-one series victory over Claremont, and on Saturday, they have the possibility of sweeping Walnut to close out Palomares League play.

A perfect example of their resilience came just today.

Walnut led 6-0 in the bottom of the first before Glendora got its first out.

And that included a 3-run home run.

But a couple of football players combined on a two-hit shutout the rest of the way in Glendora’s 13-6 victory at Walnut.

Nick Gonzalez, an offensive lineman, went three scoreless innings and allowed one hit and two walks.

Sebastian Lawrence, a freshman quarterback, provided four scoreless innings and allowing just one hit as well.

Lawrence didn’t issue a walk and registered four strikeouts.

Along with the Anthony Baez three-run HR, Adam Lenero and Eddie Chavez singled and scored one run apiece.

Nate Leyva doubled and scored.

JJ Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with a run and one RBI.

Jackson Russo singled twice and scored.

Isaiah Munoz went 1-for-2 with a walk and one RBI.

Izeyah Rojas went two innings for WHS, and he was charged with one run on two hits.

Rojas walked one and fanned a pair of Tartans.

Isaiah Munoz was roughed up for six runs (five earned) on three hits and three walks over two innings.

And GHS got to Dylan Bui for five runs on six hits and a walk over the five-run sixth inning.

Tyler Olbert had a big day with two doubles, a run and four RBIs.

Mason Danison went 2-for-4 with a triple, run and three RBIs.

Santiago Garza walked, singled and scored twice.

Tanner Grable went 3-for-4 with a walk, one run and two RBIs.

Kai Zeits drew a pair of walks, singled, scored three times and drove in one.

Aaron Jacobsen walked twice and had an RBI ground out.

John Seader walked, singled and scored two runs.

Troy Norman singled and scored.

Aidan Yamazaki had an RBI ground out.

Jackson Glaze drew a pair of walks and scored two runs.

Daniel Conness singled for GHS.
