Giana Messick’s Arm & Kennedy Bowers’ Grand Slam Spark Glendora’s to a 7-1 Palomares League Victory Over Claremont

Softball:

Glendora could still finish as high as second place in the Palomares League standings.

The Tartans defeated Claremont, 7-1, on Tuesday afternoon.

With two league games to play, Glendora is one-game back of second place Bonita.

And the Tartans and Bearcats meet up on Thursday at BHS at 3:30.

GHS and BHS both have one-run victories over the other.

But back to Tuesday’s game.

Gianna Messick went the distance, allowing one run on eight hits.

Messick didn’t issue a walk and registered three strikeouts.

She needed 86 pitches to finish what she started, and 65 of the 86 were strikes.

Daneli Becerra went 3-for-3 with a double and a solo HR in the top of the sixth inning.

Emily Moore collected two singles.

Mia Avalos doubled, while Erabella Arzola and Stephanie Sanchez had one single apiece.

Khloe Moran went the distance for Claremont, and she surrendered seven runs on six hits and five walks.

Kennedy Bowers walked and hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Morgan Gonzalez drew a pair of walks, singled and scored twice.

Kylie Coleman went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs.

Ryan Torres singled and drove in a run on a sac fly.

Mia Reyes singled and scored.
