Leila Diebert Tossed a 3-Hit Shutout & Struck Out 8 in Charter Oak’s 6-0 VVL Victory Over Northview; Chargers Improved to 11-0

Softball:

Charter Oak pulled off a twofer on Tuesday afternoon.

The Chargers defeated visiting Northview, 6-0, to stay unbeaten at 11-0.

And COHS now leads the second-place Vikings by two games in the Valle Vista League standings.

Leila Diebert tossed a three-hit shutout.

Diebert issued one walk and registered eight strikeouts.

It took her 80 pitches to finish what she started, and 57 of Diebert’s pitches were strikes.

Bella Ochoa, Joy Sanchez and Marilyn Sandoval had one hit apiece to account for the NHS offense.

Clementina Duran got the loss after surrendering six runs (two earned) on five hits over six innings.

Duran didn’t walk a batter, and she fanned a pair of Chargers.

Charter Oak scored once in the bottom of the fifth inning, and they got five more in the sixth.

Alyssa Lopez went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Mikayla Diebert singled, scored and drove in a run.

Jayla Brown went 1-for-3 with two runs and a pair of RBIs.

Riley Dunne singled and scored.

Leila Diebert and Lyla Caston scored one run apiece in Tuesday’s win.

Up next: The Chargers travel to Northview on Thursday at 3:30.
