Baseball:
Damien picked up the three-game Baseline League sweep over Upland.
But the Highlanders made the Spartans work for all three wins.
DHS had victories this week by scores of 3-0, 3-2 and 9-7.
On Thursday, the Highlanders scored four times in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.
The Spartans scored twice in the top of the eighth, and held on for that 9-7 victory.
Damien out-hit Upland, 15-7, and both programs had three extra-base hits apiece.
DHS is now one-half a game back of first place Rancho Cucamonga.
Russell Del Castillo went six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits.
Del Castillo issued one walk and registered four strikeouts.
Ryan Wentworth was credited with the win after 1 2/3 innings in relief and allowing one run on two hits.
Wentworth didn’t issue a walk and struck out one UHS batter.
Carson Kinnick doubled, homered, scored and drove in two runs.
Dom Nava doubled, scored and had two RBIs.
Nick Serna went 2-for-3 with a run and one RBI.
Ryan May and Tommy Lopez walked and scored one run apiece.
Dylan Trejo and Elliot Cresap had one hit apiece for UHS.
Joe Aguilar went four innings, allowing one run on five hits.
Aguilar walked one and fanned a pair of Spartans.
Cresap got roughed up for six runs on six hits and two walks over 2/3 of an inning.
Tommy Lopez got the loss after surrendering two runs on three hits and one walk over one inning.
Elius Kelly went 3-for-4 with a walk, triple and three runs scored.
Brady Bickham singled, doubled, scored and drove in a run.
Bickham’s RBI double in the top of the eighth turned out to be the game-winning run.
Michael Mansour went 2-for-3 with a run and one RBI.
Gino Tarzia singled twice, scored and drove in one run.
Bobby Logue walked, doubled, scored and had one RBI.
Jackson Annigan went 3-for-4 with a walk and one RBI.
Ryan Gonzalez walked and scored.
Ryan Boyle went 1-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Oliver Hines singled.

DHS welcomes Chino Hills and UHS travels to Los Osos.
