Baseball:
Etiwanda trailed 4-1 as they picked up their bats in the top of the sixth inning.
They were six outs away from being 3-7-1.
However, the Eagles scored once in the sixth, three times in the seventh and twice in the eighth to defeat Yorba Linda, 7-5, in eight innings.
EHS persevered in spite of committing five errors.
Nico Hamilton went four innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits.
Hamilton walked two and fanned four YLHS batters.
Jaxson Milius provided three innings in relief, surrendering an unearned run on three hits.
Milius issued one walk and registered a pair of strikeouts.
AJ Salazar got the save by going a perfect eighth inning and striking out one.
Owen Smith went 4-for-5 and scored.
Nathan Schneider singled and scored a pair of runs.
Joshua Garza went 2-for-3 with a walk, run and one RBI.
Michael Talbott singled twice.
Logan Roehl walked and scored.
Holden Mallock went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
YLHS out-hit EHS, 10-9, but perhaps the game’s most telling stat was that five Mustangs’ pitchers issued 12 walks as opposed to three for an Eagles trio.
Holden Mallock was charged with three runs on three hits over 1 1/3 innings.
Mallock walked two and fanned one.
Manny Ramirez got saddled with the loss, allowing two runs on three hits over the top of the eighth inning.
Ramirez walked one and struck out one.
Frank Gonzales drew a pair of walks, and his two-run HR in the top of the sixth pulled EHS to within 5-4 of the Mustangs.
Josh Adams went 1-for-4 with a run and a sac fly to catch YLHS at 5-5.
Jack Holguin scored and singled in what turned out to be the game-winning run.
James Milam went 2-for-3, including an RBI single in the top of the eighth.
Angel Mejia walked, singled, doubled and scored a pair of runs.
Jaeden Toki went 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI double.
LJ Roellig walked and scored.
Ryan Severns drew a pair of walks and singled in a run.
