College Baseball:
If you’re a fan of high-scoring baseball games, Antelope Valley College was the place to be on Tuesday afternoon.
Citrus edged AVC, 16-13, in a game that totaled 29 runs, 36 hits and 11 pitchers.
The Western State Conference showdown featured 15 combined extra-base hits.
With the win, the Owls joined LA Mission, Bakersfield and Antelope Valley in a four-way tie for second place (5-5).
Eddie Rocha got the win after going four innings and allowing two runs on five hits.
Rocha walked two and fanned a pair of AVC batters.
Chuck Lang went 3-for-5 with two runs, a three-run HR and a two-run triple.
Cody Turner walked, singled, doubled, scored and drove in one run.
KB Bell went 3-for-6 with a two-run singled and a grand slam.
Gavin Klennert singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Jacob Baxter went 3-for-4 with a walk, double and two runs.
Cody Rollings drew three walks and scored two runs.
Jose Vazquez went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI.
Citrus scored at least two runs against five of the six AVC pitchers.
Gilberto Beltran went 3 1/3 innings and surrendered six runs on seven hits.
Beltran walked two and fanned a pair of Owls.
Dustin Yela walked, doubled twice, scored three runs and finished with four RBIs.
Luke Willison went 4-for-5 with two doubles, four runs and a pair of RBIs.
Isaac Nava singled twice, had two doubles, scored one run and drove in one.
Chase Bernal went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI.
Ezekiel Escalera doubled and drove in a run on a sac fly.
Jordan Quintero went 2-or-4 with a double, two runs and three RBIs.
Nathan Hellein singled and scored a pair of runs.
Kirk Felikian and Adrian Sanchez had one RBI single apiece.
Roman Huizar walked, singled, scored twice and drove in one run.
