Clementina Duran put the Northview softball program on her back to open Valle Vista League play.
Duran went the distance to earn the win.
She surrendered one earned run on five hits in the Vikings 8-4 victory over West Covina.
Duran walked two and fanned four WCHS batters.
Melina Alvarado went 2-for-4 with a double, run and RBI.
Leslie Bautista doubled and scored.
Jessica Chavez singled and scored.
Sophia Adler went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Liliana Lopez walked and scored.
Bautista went all six for WCHS, and she was charged with eight runs (three earned) on 10 hits.
Bautista didn’t issue a walk and struck out seven NHS batters.
The Vikings took their first lead of the game after a five-run fifth inning.
Duran went 2-for-4 with two runs, a double, and her three-run HR in the fifth gave Northview a 6-4 lead.
Reina Granados walked, doubled twice and scored.
Hope Peoples doubled and scored.
Marilyn Sandoval went 1-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
Bella Ochoa singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in one run.
Mila Elizalde went 2-for-3.
Up next: The Bulldogs will host the Vikings on Thursday at 3:30.
