College Baseball:
Chaffey improved to 19-8-1 after Wednesday’s 5-1 nonconference victory over their visitors from LA Valley College.
Cadan Montes went the first 2 2/3 innings and allowed one run on three hits.
Montes walked three and fanned one LAVC batter.
Evan Ellis earned the win after going 6 1/3 scoreless innings and scattering three hits.
The former Glendora standout didn’t issue a walk, and he registered 11 strikeouts.
Anthony Reveles singled and scored.
Kevin Vazquez singled in Reveles in the top of the third to give LA Valley a 1-0 lead.
Will Stubington walked and singled.
Jordan Carrington walked and singled.
Salomon Margolis got the loss after allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits over five innings.
Margolis walked two and fanned seven Chaffey batters.
The Panthers got to Spencer Kratt for two runs on four hits over three innings.
Kratt walked one and struck out one.
Jordan Daniels drew a pair of walks, doubled twice and scored two runs.
Ryder Young singled, doubled and scored.
Dominick Torrez went 3-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Ryan Melton singled twice and drove in one run.
