Damien got a solid effort on the mound in Saturday morning’s 5-1 victory over their visitors from Charter Oak.
Andrew Torres went six strong innings to earn the win.
Torres allowed one unearned run on one hit.
He walked one and registered five strikeouts.
Russell Del Castillo got the final three outs, including one via strikeout.
Jorge Aceves doubled in the first inning, and he scored on a wild pitch.
Diego Ramirez singled to account for the rest of the COHS offense.
Christian Lopez was saddled with the loss after allowing four runs on five hits over 2 2/3 innings.
Lopez didn’t issue a walk and fanned a pair of Spartans.
Steven Haywood went 3 1/3 innings and he surrendered one run on three hits.
Haywood walked one and struck out one DHS batter.
Bobby Logue went 2-for-3, including a solo HR and scored two runs.
Ryan Boyle singled and scored.
Russell Del Castillo had a two-run single in the bottom of the third inning to give Damien a 3-1 lead.
Michael Mansour had an RBI single and scored.
Brady Bickham singled in a run for the Spartans.
Ryan Gonzalez singled and scored.
Elius Kelly singled once in the win.
