Baseball:
Ayala is off to a dominating start to their Palomares League schedule.
The Bulldogs defeated Glendora, 7-1, in Tuesday’s opener at AHS.
Fast forward two days, and Ayala jumped on the Tartans early and cruised to a 10-1 road victory.
AHS out-hit GHS, 17-5.
Aaron Jacobsen was saddled with the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits over 3 2/3 innings.
Jacobsen didn’t issue a walk and registered two strikeouts.
AHS got three runs on seven hits over three innings off Kevin Mitchell.
Mitchell walked two and fanned a pair of Bulldogs.
All nine Ayala batters had at least one hit, including three players with three base hits, and two Bulldogs had two hits apiece.
Eric Hernandez went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run and two RBIs.
Jaden Valenzuela singled twice, tripled, drove in one run and scored twice.
Jonah Boyd went 3-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Dylan Wood walked, singled twice, doubled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.
Aiden Granados walked, singled, scored and had one RBI.
Roman Lopez went 2-for-5 with two runs and a pair of RBIs.
Easton Sarmiento walked, singled and scored.
Codey Brown singled and scored.
Caleb Trugman singled and drove in a run on a ground out.
Trugman also earned the win after going 4 2/3 innings and allowing one run on four hits.
Trugman issued three walks and fanned four GHS batters.
Gerson Hoebing and Hayden Hovey combined to get the final six outs without any damage.
Santiago Garza walked, doubled and drove in the Tartans’ lone run.
Jacobsen had two of Glendora’s five hits.
Jackson Glaze walked, singled and scored.
John Seader singled to account for the rest of the GHS offense.
