Caleb Trugman & Isaac Huver Combined on No-Hitter in Ayala’s 1-0 Victory at Arlington

After opening the season with a 3-0 victory at Los Osos, Ayala had to wait two weeks to secure win No. 2.

But the Bulldogs did so with an historic effort.

Caleb Trugman and Isaac Huver combined on a no-hitter in AHS’ 1-0 victory at Arlington.

Trugman went five innings, walking one, hitting a batter and striking out eight Lions.

AHS committed a pair of errors, Trugman walked Carter Johnson in the second, and he hit Troy Khasaepanth in the fifth.

The 6-foot-4 junior, however, worked his way out of a first-and-second and one-out scenario in the bottom of the fifth inning by striking out Luke Bacon looking and Nathan Chavez swinging.

Of his 80 pitches, 52 were strikes.

Huver came in and retired the final six batters.

He induced four pop/fly outs and two ground outs.

Huver only needed 14 pitches to retire the side in the sixth and seventh innings.

Ten of his 14 pitches were strikes.

Ayala’s lone run came in the top of the third inning.

Aiden Granados singled and then stole second.

Granados advanced to third on a wild pitch, and he scored on Jonah Boyd’s ground out.

Aidan Erlandsen, Boyd and Trugman had one single apiece for the AHS offense.

Nathan Chavez went all seven for Arlington.

He surrendered the one run on four hits.

Chavez issued one walk and struck out six Bulldogs.

Chavez threw 82 pitches and 54 were strikes.

Up next: The Bulldogs will host South Hills next Tuesday at 3:15.
