Wrestling:
What better way to finish off a perfect senior season than becoming the first state champion in school history.
That’s exactly what Glendora High School’s Samantha Sachs accomplished on Saturday night.
Sachs, the No. 1 seed, pinned No. 2 seeded Ruby Julien-Newsom in just 64 seconds inside a packed Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield.
Exactly one year after being pinned in the state final, Sachs wasn’t messing around.
In her five matches at state, Sachs pinned four of her five opponents.
They each came in 1:31.
In Saturday morning’s semifinal, she claimed an 18-3 tech fall over Clayton Valley’s Savannah Talmadge.
Sachs finished her prep career with a perfect 47-0 record during this 2024-25 season.
In the offseason, Sachs also claimed a National Title in Fargo.
If that weren’t enough, she’s a 4.3 student, and Sachs will compete for the University of Iowa.
