Girls Basketball:

If Etiwanda is to win a CIF Southern Section Open Division title, they’re going to have to go through the best.

Literally.

EHS (25-4) is set to battle the nation’s top-ranked program from Ontario Christian.

The tip is set for Saturday night at 8:30 at the Toyota Center in Ontario.

The Knights (28-1) defeated the Eagles, 74-66, back on November 23rd.

OCHS led 42-26 at the break before EHS went on a 40-32 run in the second half.

Ontario Christian’s lone loss was a 59-34 setback to Archbishop Mitty of San Jose on December 21st.

The Knights would avenge that 25-point blowout by defeating those same Monarchs, 61-44, on January 4th.

Ontario Christian is currently riding a 14-game win streak.

In the 2024-25 regular season, OCHS has an overall margin of victory of 81-46.

Additionally, the Open Division playoffs, the Knights have a combined 202-139 advantage over Sage Hill, Bishop Montgomery and Sierra Canyon, respectively.

Four Ontario Christian players combine to score 69 of those 81 points.

Kaleena Smith provides 24 points, eight assists, five steals and three rebounds per game.

Tati Griffin (18 points, eight rebounds, four assists & three steals), Sydney Douglas (15 points, nine rebounds and two blocks) and Alanna Neale (12 points & seven rebounds) have been key components during the Knights’ historic season.

Etiwanda is ranked 10th in the nation by MaxPreps.

The Eagles have won 21 consecutive games, and they’ve gone 73 days without a setback.

EHS’ last setback was an 88-79 loss to Long Island Lutheran of New York back on December 14th.

While Ontario Christian didn’t compete in any Ambassador League games this season, Etiwanda ran away with the Baseline League title.

They had an 81-32 average margin of victory in their seven league games.

Etiwanda’s closest and most lopsided league wins were a 26 (87-61) and 70-point victories over Los Osos and St. Lucy’s, respectively.

In the playoffs, the Eagles have wins over Fairmont Prep (96-57), Windward (78-37) and Mater Dei (63-60)

Mater Dei is ranked fourth in the nation, while Fairmont Prep and Windward are No. 35 and No. 39 in the state, respectively.

Etiwanda doesn’t post its individual season or game stats.

But in the three-point victory over No. 4 Mater Dei, the Eagles used a balanced offensive attack to earn its spot in Saturday’s title game.

Five EHS players had at least one 3-pointer.

Arynn Finley had a game-high 17 points, including three 3-pointers.

Mater Dei actually erased a 17-point third-quarter deficit to catch the Eagles at 59-59 late in the fourth quarter.

Aliahna Morris finished with 13 points, including six of Etiwanda’s final eight points.

Leading 61-60, Arynn Finley’s basket turned out to be the difference.

Shaena Brew hit three 3’s, and she provided 15 points.

Chasity Rice contributed eight points in the win.

And Grace Knox scored six points on a pair of 3’s.

Her first 3-pointer gave EHS its first lead of the game at 17-14 at the end of the first quarter.
