Girls Wrestling:
CIF-SS Masters Meet
Northview dominated at Friday’s CIF-SS Masters Meet at La Habra High School.
The Vikings secured eight individual spots at next week’s CIF State Championships at the Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield.
To punch a ticket to Bakersfield, one needed to finish in the top four of their respective (Blue or Gold) division.
Northview’s big-eight included two champs, a pair of runner ups, one third-place finish and three Vikings placed fourth to make the cut.
Sumaya Lazaro and Delarie Juarez both earned individual championships.
Lazaro claimed the 140 Blue Division by pinning Santa Ana’s Yanni Sanchez at 3:40.
Juarez secured a decisive 11-0 victory over Hillcrest’s Lauren Pena in the 145-pound blue title bout.
One week after placing second at the CIF-SS Individuals, West Covina’s Julie Cimarusti bounced back and pinned Roosevelt’s Ava McGowan at 4:25 in the 140-pound Gold Division title match.
Glendora’s Samantha Sachs pinned her first three opponents in 90 seconds or less, and she was awarded the 130-Pound Blue title via injury default over Cerritos’ Madeline Meredith.
In all, there were 17 state qualifiers from 210 Prep Sports programs.
