Girls Basketball:
La Salle’s 2024-25 season and its CIF-SS Division 1 run came to an end on Saturday evening.
Chaminade secured a 51-45 victory in a second-round contest in Pasadena.
The Eagles led by one at the half.
CHS had a 9-1 advantage in 3-pointers.
Scott Wiard wouldn’t make this excuse, but one would have to wager that had La Salle not lost their leading scorer (Casey Higgins) to an injury earlier in the week, the outcome would almost certainly been different.
Aislin Tamez Torres led the Lancers with 13 points.
Riley Higgins, the little sister of Casey, chipped in with 10 points.
And that included La Salle’s only 3-pointer of the night.
Kaden Cortes scored nine points in her final game as a Lancer.
Cortes finished her remarkable career with 107 wins over the last four years.
No player in school history has more.
Emily Fong provided eight points and Julianne Tan scored five points in the loss.
Sydney Roberson scored a game-high 20 points for Chaminade.
And that included four 3-pointers.
Addison Keenan chipped in with 11 points in the win.
La Salle finished the season tied with Bonita at 22 wins.
Only Etiwanda (23-4), who competes in the Open Division has more.
