West Covina opened the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs in dominating form.
The Bulldogs led Godinez, 11-3, at the half, and they went on to claim an 18-12 victory.
With an 11-point advantage through three periods, WCHS allowed their JV players to get some crucial postseason experience.
Deneli Salazar actually outscored Godinez, 8-7, by herself.
Madison Vasquez chipped in with four goals and Gracie Jimenez had three.
Marisa Lemus blocked 12 of the 17 shots that came her way.
Up next: The Bulldogs host El Modena on Friday at 5.
EMHS edged Valencia of Placentia, 4-2, in their opening-round contest.
