Boys Basketball:
The 2024-25 season has been quite the challenge for the Bonita boys’ basketball program.
Thus far, BHS has never been more than two games over the .500 mark, and that is a rarity in the Tim Godley era.
On Tuesday night, the Bearcats fell to 1-5 in Palomares League play after a 58-57 home loss to Diamond Bar.
Trailing 57-56, Tyler West was fouled on the last play of the game.
And it occurred behind the 3-point line.
Depending on the team you were rooting for, the call was either great or brutal.
And what had to be frustrating for the boys in green and white was the fact that after a timeout was called, the officials added 1.6 seconds to the scoreboard.
Instead of having four seconds to go the length of the court, DBHS had 5.6.
When all was said and done, West hit two of his three free-throw attempts, and it was just enough for a Brahmas victory.
West hit four 3-pointers, and he scored a game-high 23 points.
Jedi Chow chipped in with 19 points.
Hunter Smith led Bonita with 16 points.
And the program’s all-time 3-point leader added four more 3’s to his total.
James Kim chipped in with 11 points.
Jakson Clement finished with 10 points, while Beau Rudometkin and Drew Sanchez scored eight points apiece for the Bearcats.
