Boys Basketball:
Ayala took over sole possession of third place in the Palomares League with five games to play.
The Bearcats secured a 66-62 victory at Bonita.
AHS took a 36-24 lead into the half, and they were able to withstand a 38-30 BHS run in the second half.
Both programs combined to make just four 3-pointers on Thursday night.
Josiah Yang scored a game-high 19 points for Ayala, including a 5-of-6 effort from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.
Joshua Townsell chipped in with 18 points and Jeremy Serrano had 16 in the win.
James Kim and Drew Sanchez scored 15 points apiece for the Bearcats.
Kim (10) and Sanchez (11) combined to score 21 second-half points during BHS’ run.
Brayden Henderson provided 11 points for the Bearcats, all of which were scored in the second half.
