Girls Basketball:
St. Monica took a nine-point lead after the first quarter, and they would hold off La Salle, 60-54, in Wednesday’s Del Rey League opener.
The Lancers had won 13 of their last 14 games.
Kim Macias had a game-high 21 points for the Mariners.
Bailey Prewitt chipped in with 19 points, and Sydney Ghobrial provided 10 points in the win.
Casey Higgins led La Salle with 21 points.
Aislin Tamez Torres finished with 13 points.
And Kaden Cortes had 11.
Up next: The Lancers will host Bishop Montgomery on Monday at 7.
