Girls Athlete of the Week:
Casey Higgins and her girls had a solid week for the La Salle basketball program.
The Lancers defeated La Canada, Wilson, Oakwood and Crescenta Valley by a combined margin of 228-125.
That was good enough to secure the San Marino Tournament championship.
Higgins was named the tournament’s MVP.
She finished with 58 points, 50 rebounds, 11 assists and eight steals.
Her best outing was a semifinal round victory over Oakwood.
Higgins scored 25 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, dished out three assists and she had two steals.
Through the first eight games of the 2024-25 season, she’s one point (114) behind Aislin Tamez Torres in scoring and her 105 rebounds is approximately 40 more than Tamez Torres.
