Girls Basketball:

La Salle improved to 2-0 after its 52-26 victory at Keppel.

The Lancers pulled away in the second quarter after outscoring the Aztecs, 15-0.

Aislin Tamez Torres had a game-high 18 points.

Casey Higgins chipped in with 14 points.

Kaden Cortes and Julianne Tan provided six points apiece in Thursday’s win.

Alyssa Canizal had a team-high seven points for the Aztecs.

Keira Kamida finished with six points, and Jessica Jiang and Maile Tamaki scored five points each in a losing effort.

Quotable:

La Salle coach, Scott Wiard: “I’m proud of our kids for locking into the scouting report. We are a balanced team; the scoring from Aislin and Casey were important, but the defense, especially by Emily Fong and Kaden Cortes were critical to our success tonight. It’s fun to beat a local team, but we can’t lose sight of getting better for the games in January, February, and March.”

Up next: The Lancers will host Pasadena on Saturday at 6.
