Girls Tennis:
Thanks to Maranatha for this report
It was the second match of a back-to-back set with Whittier Christian, who continue to try to navigate a new normal after the passing of their beloved coach, Scott Penner, last weekend.
In the interim, former Whittier Christian head coach, Nicole Nicolaides, has returned to coach and stabilize the team for the rest of the season, along with Athletic Director, Sam Paulescu.
The Lady Minutemen continued to empathize with their fellow Olympic League comrades and counted it a privilege to share such a profound and jarring week with them, attempting to be sensitive and caring in their grief.
Tennis was definitely on the docket, but this time a heightened gratitude and appreciation for life was in the air, as this week was a stark reminder of the brevity of life for both teams.
The Lady Minutemen swept in singles matches, and we won all but two doubles sets’ and we continue to make progress in their efforts to improve as tennis players.
Up next: Maranatha (9-3; 2-2) will be a trip to Burbank to take on Village Christian, the league’s best team. The match will be held at the Burbank Tennis Center at 1:30 p.m.
