Football:
For the first time since 2017, Chino Hills was able to look up to the scoreboard and smile after the annual Battle for the Bone rivalry game with Ayala.
The Huskies never trailed, and they secured a 24-10 victory over the Bulldogs.
Jordan Corona had field goals of 41 and 27 yards in the first and second quarters, respectively, to give Chino Hills a 6-3 lead at the half.
Justin Calagna got Ayala on the board with his 36-yard field goal midway through the second quarter.
The only points in the third quarter came from a 26-yard field goal from Corona.
Leading 9-3, Chino Hills quarterback Alex Medyn rumbled in from 41 yards out with 9:39 to play.
Medyn also converted on the 2-point conversion and the Huskies led 17-3.
AHS wasn’t going down without a fight.
Sixteen seconds after the Medyn TD run, Alex Way hit Brenton Smith on a 56-yard scoring pass, and it was a one-score game.
Medyn was able to put the game on ice with his 4-yard TD run with 26 seconds to play.
Medyn finished with nearly 90 yards rushing for CHHS.
