Luna, Gaytan, Garcia & Munoz Key in Covina’s Five-Set Valle Vista League Victory at West Covina

Girls Volleyball:

After starting Valle Vista League play 1-2, the Covina girls volleyball program has won three consecutive VVL matches.

And that includes Thursday’s five-set victory at West Covina.

In spite of some crucial injuries in the second set, the Colts won by scores of 25-16, 22-25, 22-25, 25-16 and 15-5.

Melanie Luna led the way with 18 kills, five aces and 11 digs.

Covina’s middle blocker, Brianna Gaytan, had 11 kills, two blocks and three aces.

The Colts other outside hitter, Bella Garcia finished with eight kills.

Julianna Munoz, the CHS stud, provided 41 assists, six aces and 10 digs.

Up next: Covina travels to first-place Northview in the “Queens of the Cross Town Crown” rivalry game on Tuesday at 6.
